When you are over the age of 75, Airport Security screening at Chicago, O'hare, Denver, Orlando and Portland airports will have relaxed security. This is a test program from TSA that begins today on March 19, 2012. TSA may advise you that you won't have to remove your shoes and light jackets when going through screening. They also may allow you to go through the scanner a second time instead of receiving a physical pat down. This is a test program for relaxed security on seniors over 75 years of age and only at the above named airports. There are some tips for making the screening process easier for all travelers. Pack your carry on luggage neatly. Use a slightly smaller carry on, like the
Lipault luggage , that will fit in crowded overhead compartments easier. It will screen quicker through the x-ray when packed efficiently. Use packing cubes when at all possible. Remember to put liquids in a 3-1-1 bag. That is a one quart, clear plastic zippered bag with bottles or jars of three ounces or less, and it is one of these per person. Also, if security decides to hand search your carry on, it can be packed back up quickly when it isn't overstuffed. Patience and a smile are two good things to bring with you when traveling!
