These will generally be called a “limited warranty”. These can range from one year to several years or a lifetime. These warranties will exclude normal wear and tear, abuse, and common carrier mishandling. Common carriers are planes, trains, buses, taxis, and cruise lines, as well as anyone else who carries your luggage. The majority of luggage brands offer a “limited warranty” on your luggage purchase. However, some of the better brands do offer a more inclusive warranty with your luggage purchase. Some of these more inclusive warranties cover a brands entire line, while others cover only their premium lines of luggage. You always need to read the warranty to be sure when making a luggage purchase. One of the brands that offers a fabulous luggage warranty is Briggs & Riley luggage. The Briggs & Riley luggage warranty is called a “simple as that” warranty and is for a lifetime. This warranty covers everything from wheels, handles and zippers. Packing Luggage
Monday, June 29th, 2009We always receive a lot of questions about how to pack luggage. Like anything else, it’s really quite simple when you know how. The luggage today has inner bars down the center of the bag. This is the housing for the pull up handle that allows you to push or pull your luggage. The only popular brand with bars on the outside is Briggs & Riley luggage. The Briggs & Riley luggage is completely flat inside. With all of the other brands of luggage, you will need to even out the packing surface. I begin my packing with packing cubes. These will fit around the bars, insuring a flat surface when you begin packing. Inside the packing cubes, you can put underwear, pajamas, socks, shirts, gym clothing and stockings. Packing cubes for cosmetics and toiletries are usually kept within the main body of the luggage to protect your clothing from spillage. Shoes should be packed in shoe covers to keep everything around the shoes clean. These shoe covers can be placed around the perimeter of the bag. I pack with hangers because there are never enough hangers in the hotel. I use the thin wire hangers from the cleaners. I hang the pants over the hanger with a shirt or blouse on top. I put four hangers together in one direction, and then start four more hangers in the opposite direction, going the long way. Start with the end of your clothing opposite the hanger, so the hanger and clothes are over the luggage. When I’m done with packing the clothing, I fold everything in. They’ll be an area in the now available in the center where you can place your toiletries. Since we now have to pack cosmetics, I double bag them in plastic, and then place them in a plastic lined cube or plastic lined cosmetic bag. This is the safest way to protect your clothing from spills and leakage. On top of the cosmetics, I’ll pack some sweaters or a lightweight jacket. If you are packing a man’s suit or sports jacket, the best way is to use a garment sleeve. Tumi luggage, Prolite luggage, Briggs & Riley luggage and Kenneth Cole luggage already have a removable garment sleeve inside. Pack the jacket and slacks within the garment sleeve neatly and carefully. You’ll be surprised how wrinkle-free your clothing will come out of the luggage. When you arrive at your hotel or destination, you can just hang everything up, put your packing cubes in the drawers and go on to a meeting or sightseeing!

What makes finding your luggage easier at busy airport baggage carousels and cruise lines? There are many products available now to assist you in locating your luggage quickly. Most travelers choose the same dark colored luggage because they know that dark colors on luggage won’t show the dirt as easily. Face it, not everyone can travel with luggage colored in rainbows or pink polka dots! These new products also deter others from taking your luggage inadvertently. The newest product to the marketplace is the Luggage Locator PRO Deluxe. This clever product is designed to go around the handle on all of the pieces of your luggage. It doesn’t matter if you travel with one or ten pieces of luggage. The transmitter is then placed on your key chain. All you need do is touch the button on your key chain and your luggage that is within sixty feet will beep and light up. There are many different frequencies like a garage door opener, so you don’t have to worry about locating another person’s luggage! This is a very smart product cleverly designed to assist you at crowded terminals. Additional products have been developed to locate your luggage and show that it is “yours.” There are many bright colored luggage tags available. Tags now have a “covered” area for your personal information. The tags will also keep your name and address and phone number hidden inside. You should put one on the top handle and one on the side handle, as you never know which direction your luggage will come around on the carousel. There are also handle wrappers, which will change the color of your luggage handle to a bright color. These wrap around your luggage by Velcro, and once again it’s smart to use two, one for the top and one for the side handle. TSA locks are also available in bright colors to match or contrast with your luggage tag and/or handle wrapper. These are the only locks permitted at airports by the TSA. The reason you can use these locks is TSA security personnel have a master key (like a hotel room master key) so they can open your bag if they need to. These TSA locks come in a combination lock or key lock style. Of course, combination locks are easier because you don’t have to carry another set of keys with you. The combination can be set to any numbers you can easily remember. Luggage straps also come in bright colors. This is a web strap that wraps around your luggage. Luggage straps will also keep your luggage closed if it is filled to bursting! The luggage straps slide through the suitcase handle and close with either a seat belt type closure or combination lock. The combination lock has to be a TSA approved combination lock for you to use at airports. Having your luggage monogrammed with your initials is the perfect way to identify your luggage as yours! Monogramming is permanent and cannot be removed. No one can claim the luggage is theirs when it has your initials on it. Many brands of luggage like Delsey, Prolite and Tumi luggage have a leather monogram oval built right on the front of the luggage for just this purpose.
